After NetDevil hosted an event with a presentation of the Octavian invasion at the E3 the development has further advanced. Among other things the developers updated new event sectors on the internal test servers. They drew some conclusions about how they have to offer the event gameplay, so that the events feel as realistic and profound as possible .
In a developer diary on the website mmorpg.com Joe Grubb talked about the development of the new event sectors in Jumpgate Evolution. Those are non-instanced sectors which are available to players for short durations like once a day or week. The players will find repeatable PvP and PvE quests there while supporting each faction’s unique goals and ideologies and remaining fictionally relevant.
It is possible that suddenly big battles break out, including the whole sector. Hundreds of players and NPCs will fight for alien artifacts or other matters. The pilots in the sector automatically receive dynamic missioncontent. These events are therefore almost comparable with public quests, but the events should be much larger.

The European publisher Frogster (Runes of Magic) opened the website for the new hack’n’slay mmo Mythos. Starting from now you can register an account for the upcoming closed beta test on the official website .

Well, obviously, there is no Beta Test Today, not even for Xbox-360 Owners. But As Activision promised, they did reveal a lot about the multiplayer feature in Call of Duty BlackOps. With a new video they introduced the “Wager Mode” that contains 4 FFA gamemodes. They are called ” One in a Chamber” – meaning you have a Pistol and only one bullet ( and additional 3 Knives). The other modes are called ” Sticks and Stones” , “Gun Game” and ” Sharp Shooter”. The video has a lot of action gameplay to offer and explains the 4 modes sufficienty, so you should definitely take the time to watch it.
But that’s not all, Treyarch has adopted various ideas from the community, especially in bonus and upgrade concerns. In Black Ops multiplayer you will have ingame cash. With the money you can buy new weapons and gadgets. Another great feature will be the videoeditor which makes you capture the game from any perspective. There is a free camera mode included where you can change angles and positions during the replay. This might increase the count of machinima videos that pop up for this game.
Rumors claim that the Beta of Call of Duty BlackOps will start today. Community Manager Josh Olin already denied the Integrity of some Google Ads that advertised for a CoD BlackOps Beta event but on the other hand he twittered “9/1 will be a reveal of ALL #CODBlackOps MP will have to offer!“. Anyway, the following screenshots showed up and got sent to us. Is the story true or fake ? Your call. Click on the pictures for a higher resolution.
Trion Worlds has stated that the budget to date for its MMO, Rift: Planes of Telara, is currently passing the 50 million mark. A statement made to Develop-Online.net, Trion’s CEO Lars Buttler says that spending this type of money indicates just how much Trion wants to get into the MMO business.
Trion CEO Lars Buttler told Develop the game’s exorbitant budget – partly due to the engineering of Trion’s own development platform – signals how serious the company is.
Rift: Planes of Telara is already very ambitious because it is over $50 million in development

Since the 22th of July, Vindictus (Mabinogi Heroes in Asia) is already playable in Korea, but the north American and European players have to wait until the end of the year before they can play it for the first time. A lot of videos can already be found on Youtube from the closed beta phase and the korean version. We picked five informative examples for you, but you can also find more videos on the web. The following videos show different classes and a lot of gameplay, among there is a fight against a very nasty black spider.

Undoubtedly you at least know of World of Warcraft. The 800 pound gorilla of the MMO market has ruled the genre with an iron fist for the past 5 years. But not everything is bright and shiny over at Blizz HQ. The Subscription numbers have finally stopped growing. While there hasn’t been a significant drop, WoW has grown steadily over it’s 5 year life span with increasing subscription numbers every month. Blizzard, never one to rest on their laurels and keenly aware of the stagnation of numbers prepares to launch Cataclysm, WoW’s 3rd expansion.

But the question remains, as a current player is Cataclysm enough to keep you shelling out that $15.00 a month? Perhaps you are new to the scene in general, is WoW accessible enough for you? Maybe you have quit WoW, does Cataclysm offer enough content and fixes to old systems to bring you back into the substantially sized fold?
Without much ado 2K Games and a german developer (Yager) announced the beta of the upcoming 3rd-person shooter Spec Ops: The line several weeks ago. The beta was planned for “summer” and exclusive for Xbox360. Equally quite like the announcement, the beta launched a few days ago. Now a french player, who does not care about the NDA, is presenting a nearly 16 minute taking gameplay video. The clip shows lots of things, like the menus and multiplayer action from the current state of the game:
